Mr. Bishop has spent more than 30 years with Allen
C. Ewing & Co. providing investment banking services to financial institutions.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Bishop's experience included various positions at First
Union National Bank (Charlotte), Adair Realty & Mortgage Company (Atlanta),
and Vice-President Investments of The Liberty Corporation (Greenville, SC).
He has served as a Director of various financial institutions over the years
including Cousins Properties (Atlanta), Gulf Mortgage & Realty Investments (
Jacksonville), Grubb & Ellis Corporation (San Francisco), Peninsular Fire
Insurance Company (Jacksonville), and CRT Properties (Boca Raton). He is
recognized as a leading authority on commercial banking in the Florida and
Southeastern markets. He is a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology
and Harvard Business School.
David W. Jackson President
Prior to joining Allen C. Ewing & Co.,
David spent 11 years as a Senior Vice President with IJL Wachovia and
its predecessor, Interstate/Johnson Lane Corporation, specializing in
private placements of debt and equity. Previous to IJL, he was a Senior
Vice President with Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. in New York City in
the Corporate Services Group. David is a Director of Ewing Capital Partners,
LLC; the General Partner of Ewing Emerging Financial Institutions Fund I, LLC;
serves on the advisory committee of Vero Retirement Associates, LLC; and is
a principal partner of Senior Living Communities, LLC, an operator and developer
of retirement communities in the Southeast. He is a graduate of the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (AB).
W. Allen Rogers, II Principal
Allen began his professional
career as a bank examiner with the Federal Bank of Atlanta.
Later, he was with Tri-South Mortgage Investors and Kidder,
Peabody & Co., also in Atlanta. In 1978, Allen co-founded
Robison, McAulay & Rogers, a private investment banking firm,
and Uvest Brokerage Services in Charlotte. In 1986, he joined
Interstate Securities Corporation, which later became Interstate/Johnson Lane,
where he served as head of the Investment Banking Department and a member of the
Board of Directors. In 1995, he started the investment banking practice in Charlotte
for KPMG and, in 1999, founded Rogers & Company, Inc., a private investment bank. He
joined Allen C. Ewing & Co. in 2002. Allen is a graduate of Davidson College (BA)
and The Wharton School of Finance and Commerce (MBA). He serves on the Board of Directors of Insteel Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: IIIN) and Forest Commercial Bank.
Barry has spent his entire
career in the securities industry. Beginning in 1959, he has worked in both
regional and national investment firms, holding senior management positions in
the areas of syndicate, corporate finance, institutional sales, branch
management and product marketing.Immediately prior to joining Allen C. Ewing
in 1991, he spent 15 years as the Syndicate Manager and, later, Manager of
Direct Investments for Jesup, Josephthal & Co. and its predecessor, Jesup &
Lamont Securities Co. Barry is a graduate of Hobart College (BA).
Macon Patton Senior Vice President - Investment Banking
Macon joined the Charlotte office in January, 2010. He began his career in 1987 in institutional fixed income sales and trading at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in New York. From 1991 through 1996 he lived in Prague, Czech Republic and London where he spent several years working with a Czech based investment bank and its London based sister company. His experience also includes working in real estate with the Charlotte based developer The Boulevard Company. He also worked at a real estate investment company, Flagship Capital Partners, where he helped launch the firm’s first investment fund. Macon is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (AB).
John joined Allen C. Ewing & Co. in 2001.
Prior to joining the firm, he spent 25 years in the real estate industry,
operating a residential general contracting firm and was part of the development
team creating over $150 million in oceanfront properties in Florida. His early career
was with the Hibernia National Bank in New Orleans. John's focus is in non-banking areas,
with emphasis on mergers and acquisitions of lower middle market
firms and private placements in real estate, oil and gas, software
and other offerings. John is a graduate of Tulane University, (BS) Mechanical Engineering
and MBA in Finance, and is on the Board of Directors of the Tulane Alumni Association and of the North East Florida Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
Mr. Payne joined Ewing in November 2008 and provides corporate advisory services to emerging
growth companies with an emphasis on the water and infrastructure industries. Morgan began
his career in 1965 in sales with the IBM Data Processing Division; he made the 100% Club.
Three years later he joined the Robinson-Humphrey Company in sales and management and
provided services to various communications and technology companies. In the 1980s he was
President of two public companies and served on a number of Boards of Directors. In 1990, he
created Broadland Capital Partners which provided corporate advisory services to technology,
communications, and healthcare companies as well as companies in the infrastructure and water
Industries. Broadland successfully completed private placements, merger and acquisition
assignments, and restructuring transactions. From 2003 through 2008, he was a Financial
Advisor with Citigroup Global Markets. He is a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology
(BEE).
Derrick joined Allen C. Ewing & Co. as an investment banking analyst in 2007, having graduated from the University of Florida (BS in
Business with a concentration in Finance and Economics). Derrick is involved in Ewing’s corporate advisory services and debt and
equity capital raises, as well as provides investment analysis and operational support for the Ewing Emerging Financial Institution
Funds. Prior to joining Ewing, Derrick worked with Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client Group, assisting a team of high net worth
financial advisors in wealth management and asset allocation strategies. Derrick holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses, Florida’s Life,
Health and Variable Annuity license, and is a CFA Level II candidate.
Sarah joined Ewing in May 2007.
At Ewing, Sarah is responsible for ensuring the firm’s compliance with the FINRA,
SEC, and other member exchange rules. She also oversees the day-to-day operations
of the retail client division. Prior to joining Ewing, Sarah was an Assistant Vice
President with Merrill Lynch’s retail banking division. At Merrill, Sarah was responsible
for designing the service and operation processes of the strategic initiatives within the
Beyond Banking platform. Sarah has a graduate of The American University in Washington, D.C.
(BA Public Media and Finance). She also holds her Series 7, 66, & 24 licenses with the FINRA.
Laura Marshall Vice President - Fund Marketing & Administration
Laura has been with Allen C. Ewing & Co.
since March, 2002. She has over 15 years experience in the securities industry
- as a public finance banker, in fixed income trading and institutional sales with
First Tennessee Bank, A.G. Edwards, Advest, and IJL Wachovia. She is a graduate
of the University of Memphis, (BS) Finance.
Bob Dunlap has more than 20 years
experience in credit underwriting and loan origination and administration
with thrifts and regional national banks, as well as mortgage banking firms.
His latest banking position was Senior Vice President of First Union National
Bank of Florida, where he was the senior credit officer for the Special Assets
Division. In this position, he worked closely with Loan Review and with the bank's
senior management in reviewing specific reserves and in establishing loan loss projections
and charge-off's. He was directly responsible for the sale of over 4000 notes and $500
million in whole loans during his tenure at First Union National Bank.
Bob is a graduate of Florida State University (BS) and the University of North Florida (MBA, MACC); he holds a current Florida CPA license, as well.
James H. Glen, Jr. Principal
Jim spent 20 years with
Wachovia Securities, Inc. and its predecessor firms where, from 1995 to 2002, he
directed the Financial Institutions Group and was a member of the Equity Markets
Advisory Group. Prior to that, Jim was a corporate finance professional with
the Prudential Insurance Company of America and, before that, with The
Robinson-Humphrey Company, Inc. He is a graduate of North Georgia College (BA)
and Georgia State University (MBA). Jim is an Accredited Senior Appraiser
(Business Valuation) of the American Society of Appraisers.
